Restoration
Messrs Kirtland and Jardine, the company who originally built the organ have been
commissioned to restore this magnificent instrument. Detailed consultation has taken
place and it was decided that the resulting instrument will be smaller than the
original organ.
It has been agreed that the balance and tonal arrangements of the organ should not
be altered. It has been decided to restore the great swell and pedal organs to their
earlier specifications. In addition, a smaller choir organ will be reinstated using
former pipe work and contemporary pipe work where needed.
A small solo organ will be incorporated into the scheme using the surviving solo
stop as its foundation. The echo organ will not be rebuilt and for flexibility,
a new mobile console will be constructed. Victorian casework from another demolished
church will be adapted to house the pure tin pipes. The total cost of this work
is estimated at £20,000
